Sheila B.

Dancing began for Sheila at the age of seven. Sheila went from dancing on several different dance teams growing up in Puerto Rico to becoming a dance team coordinator…preparing and putting together routines for her team. One of these routines would be performed while she was pregnant!
And that dedication continues all the way through to now as she at first would have fun at the social dancing events but then, she made the decision to perform once again. A proud member of the Latin Vintage Dance Company directed by the incomparable Julissa Cruz and the Iroko Ladies dance team directed by Denisse Cambria, Sheila’s style and charisma slowly became must-see and noticeable by everyone that watched.
They watched so much that she would get asked often about her style and how she’s able to do what she’s doing while performing, following and now, leading salsa and bachata.
It began to build a second passion inside her and her want to help others. In that way of thinking, Sheila has partnered with the founder of the Phoenix Soul Movement Company’s Marsha Bonet as she learns the proper way to teach others. It brings us to now as she is starting to forge her own path in teaching as she is already teaching on2 classes for two socials in the DMV.
Fast forward to now, she is an on2 instructor at the Rising Star Studio of Dance as well as one of the resident instructors at Echale, helping dancers of all levels try to be the dancer they want to be.
A beacon of light for plus size women everywhere, Sheila shows that anyone can move and perform at the highest level.
